Wild Rivers Conservancy Recipient of Great Idea Grant to Connect Area Youth with the St. Croix River

Fall 2021

The Stillwater Area Community Foundation has announced that Wild Rivers Conservancy is the winner of the 2021 Great Idea Competition. Their program Wild River Journey opens up the opportunity for area youth to  St Croix River for excursions

The program, in partnership with National Park Service, will bring Stillwater Area students discovery experiences on the St. Croix River via paddle boat field trips that are educational and fun. The outings will integrate hands-on learning, local history and science-based discovery.

“The St. Croix River provides a rich economy, vast recreation opportunities, and natural beauty. It plays a pivotal role in the area’s sense of community. However, many students who live and go to school here have limited opportunities to experience actually being on the River. Wild River Journey will provide an on-river experience for more than 500 students in grades 3 through 5. The program aspires to evoke respect for our natural world and create stronger personal connections to the St. Croix River.”
