Great Idea Grant Funds to Support COVID-19 Response
[STILLWATER, April 10, 2020] –Stillwater Area Community Foundation has suspended the 2020 Great Idea Competition. This year’s $10,000 award amount will be donated to the COVID-19 Response Fund for the St. Croix Valley to help meet the basic needs of people within the organization’s service area who are being impacted by this crisis.
“As a community foundation we want to use our resources to do the greatest good possible right now. COVID-19 is affecting many people. St. Croix Valley Foundation, in partnership with United Way St. Croix Valley and United Way Washington County East, has quickly set up effective processes for connecting financial resources to those in need through the strength of local nonprofit organizations. Rather than supporting one community project this year, our board of directors has unanimously voted to donate the $10,000 Great Idea grant amount, plus an additional $3,000, to the COVID-19 Response Fund for the St. Croix Valley,” said board chair Tom Triplett.
The board will consider additional funding if needed in the future.
Stillwater Area Community Foundation, an affiliate of St. Croix Valley Foundation, serves communities within the Stillwater Area School district—from Bayport north to Marine on St. Croix and including Lake Elmo and Grant Township. “The Great Idea Competition has become a popular community program, and we look forward to renewing it in the future,” said Triplett.
