The Stillwater Area Foundation is pleased to announce its 3rd Annual Great Idea Competition. The goal of the Great Idea Competition is to inspire and develop creative ideas to address community needs and improve the quality of life for residents of the Stillwater Area (including Lake Elmo, Bayport, Oak Park Heights, Marine on St. Croix and West Lakeland Township). With so many new and exciting changes in our communities, the Great Idea Competition encourages individuals and organizations to help shape the future.
The winning idea will receive a $5,000 grant and the potential to receive more designated funds. The Great Idea Competition is looking for ideas that address a wide range of community needs.
The winning Great Idea will:
- Be innovative
- Enhance quality of life
- Strengthen community connections
- Enhance community pride
And it may:
- Address an environmental concern
- Make life easier or more pleasant for local residents
- Address needs of underserved community members
- Beautify streetscapes
- Attract visitors
The Great Idea Competition is a fun and engaging way for local residents to learn about critical issues affecting our communities, develop creative new solutions to help address these issues and be inspired to act. Ideas will be accepted through May 1, 2015 through the Stillwater Area Foundation website, www.stillwaterareafoundation.org.
The top entrants will be asked to present their Great Idea at the Stillwater Area Foundation’s May 6 board meeting. The winner will be announced at the Foundation’s reception and fundraiser in late May 2015 (date to be determined).
Last year, the Friends of Stillwater Area Dog Park won the $5,000 Great Idea Competition sponsored by the Stillwater Area Foundation. The dog park opened in August 2014 and has quickly become a valued community space for residents of Stillwater and surrounding communities.
